why don't we trust our inner voice of wisdom?

There’s a lot of advice out there… Most of it sounds pretty good, and with the right blend of examples and plausibility language we can be convinced almost anything is the right thing to do.

I think most of the time we’re seeking advice and answers simply because we don’t trust ourselves. We don’t trust the inner voice of wisdom that we all have, the inner guide if you will, instead we second guess everything of note and seek outside influence.

The inner voice of guidance I’m referring to is the one that is consistently calm, rational and steady. The problem is, it often gets drowned out by the other inner dialogues we have, often coming from a place of high emotion.

These inner voices tend to be more unreliable in their offerings, due to the nature of our emotions. They’re tinged with fear or anger or excitement or passion and become less rational the higher up the emotional scale they get. Whenever we’re making decisions from this perspective it’s likely to be short lived and over the long term erroneous.

The problem with high emotional states is that they’re never dealing with the present, they’re always coming from a created future or past within our minds. They’re anticipatory, made to either prolong the good feeling or steer us away from the bad feeling.

Rather than being rooted in the present moment, and secure in the knowledge that we’re psychologically safe at all times, they’re rooted in the fear of things being temporary or that we might miss out on something else so we need to grasp them and hold onto something.

The clear still voice in the background knows that your mind is eternal and part of the whole. It has no fear of the temporary or need to hold onto things.

It’s purely rooted in the present moment, enjoying the perfection that is your life. We spend our lives fighting this feeling and wishing for something different, afraid that we will somehow “waste” our time, our lives.

We’re afraid of the names we may be called, as if they could ever damage who we truly are at our core. Our fragile egos fight against the idea of being eternal and whole, instead it focusses on our perceived limitations and lack.

It keeps us looking outside of ourselves rather than recognising the divinity we were all born with. The perception of lack or limitation, the fear of feeling inferior or of loss prevent us from sharing our divine nature with those around us and cuts us off from a life of peace and fulfilment.

As you look around you, start to notice and appreciate the world you live in, notice the beauty and abundance that is all around you, more importantly connect with the beauty and abundance that is with in you.

Make the connection deep within yourself, realise you have nothing to fear in your life and that when you trust the divine voice within you, there’s nothing outside of you that can do you any harm.
